Lamps, fans, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and other household appliances are closely related to us, and the safety of these products cannot be ignored. Give us more security protection in the new update standard, especially for the protection of children.

The new standard of the new IEC60335-1 has updated several important contents:

01. Pay more attention to children’s safety protection. In addition to considering “adults use electrical products”, at the same time, “children may also use electrical products” is considered. For example, for children’s safety, the new version of the standard introduces the No. 18 test probe, which simulates children’s test fingers, in terms of protection against electric shock and dangerous moving parts. For some household appliances with moving parts, such as electric fans, companies need to check the product structure design, and design the fan protective net cover more tightly to prevent children from accidentally inserting their hands. The new version of the standard also tightens the requirements for product surface temperature rise. For products such as electric ovens, companies need to consider the possibility that children may be scalded by touching the oven door, so as to strictly control the surface temperature rise of the product under working conditions.

02. Increase the safety requirements for the use of appliances with batteries. The new standard adds comprehensive assessment content for batteries, which will be a challenge for Chinese home appliance companies. At present, many personal care products use rechargeable batteries, such as electric shavers, beauty instruments, small massagers, oral cleaning appliances and other home appliances with charging functions. Regarding the reliability of battery cells, battery packs, and charging and power consumption parts of appliances with batteries, the old IEC and national standards have not had many assessment requirements. In real life, there are frequent battery explosion and fire accidents when products with batteries are in use or charging, which also makes people pay more attention to the safety of batteries.
