DIN4102-1 Fire behaviour of building materials and elements Part 1: Classification of building materials Requirements and testing

Application

Suitable used for measuring the somke-producing characteristic of building material under controlled condition of combustion or decomposition, and also can be used for other plastics.

Test requirements edit
When the fire behavior of materials meets the characteristics determined by this standard, it is divided into:
A1
Non-combustible material
-Meets A2 requirements
-Non-combustibility testing according to standards
-Total heating value test according to standards
-Burning smoke generation test
A2
Non-combustible material
-Tested according to DIN 4102-16
-Non-combustibility test or total burning value test according to standards
-Burning smoke generation test
B1
Flame retardant material
-Tested to meet B2 requirements
-The remaining sample length is greater than 15cm
-The temperature does not exceed 200 degrees
B2
Combustible material
-The flame extends to the marking line after 20s
-Paper does not burn
-Dripping and burning within 2s
B3
Flammable materials
-Failed to meet B2 level

Testing method
A1 level:
For the A1 test, the sample is required to be placed vertically in an electric furnace at 750 ° C, and another 20MM flame is applied. The test time is 15 ~ 30MIN. If the sample meets the following conditions, it is considered to meet the A1 requirement: no open flame (open flame requirements are otherwise specified) ); The temperature rise in the furnace is less than 50 ℃; the requirements of A2 have been met.
A2 level:
The A2 test method was carried out using the Brandschacht method. The vertical matrix combustion was used. The ignition source was a ring torch. The test time was 10 MIN. Materials that can reach the A2 level must meet: the average remaining length of the sample is not less than 350MM, the remaining length of any one of the samples is not less than 200MM; the average flue gas temperature does not exceed 125 ° C; the back of any sample is non-combustible; there are no other accidents. In addition, the smoke density is tested according to ASTM D 2843 (XP2 smoke box) and DIN E 53436/37, the thermal decomposition toxicity products are measured according to DIN 53436.1 ~ 3, the latent heat is measured according to DIN 51900.2, and the heat release is measured according to DIN 4102.8C.
B1 level:
The Brandschacht method is still used. The test method is the same as A2. The evaluation requirements include: the average remaining length is not less than 150MM, the remaining length of any one sample cannot be 0; the average flue gas temperature does not exceed 220 ° C; there are no other accidents.
B2 level:
Department uses the small torch test method. For homogeneous materials, edge ignition or surface ignition can be used. The flame flame is 20MM high and ignited at a 45-degree angle. The firing time is 15S and the test is 20S. In 20S, if the top of the flame is not reached, the test is passed. If the edge is protected, a surface ignition test is added. In addition, if the molten droplet ignites the lower filter paper, it fails. Heterogeneous materials should be tested separately in longitudinal and transverse directions.
B3 level:
Those who cannot meet the B2 standard are classified as B3.
